November 2023 Fanfic Recs
In November, I read fewer fics than October, but still a lot more than September, so I'll take that. 😆
Here are some of the fics I enjoyed:
MDZS/CQL Fic Recs
I have absolutely no idea how I never read this fic before, but two different friends independently recced it this month, and I'm glad they did! (Thanksshipperslist, for being one of them.)
Unawakened, Nie Mingjue/Jin Guangyao, 5k, general audience
This next one is one of those short, atmospheric fics with open endings where I can't decide if it's perfect as it is, or if I want 50,000 more words of it. It had me yelling.

This fandom averages about 2-3 new fics per month and I still can't understand how there's so little, but every now and then I get a treat.

Speaking of fandoms with slim pickings... 😭 But it did get a little boost of new fics from the GMMTV Exchange this month.

He found the cat in Qinghe.
“What are you doing here?” Meng Yao said, crouching down to try to scoop out the little handful of white fluff underneath his cabinet only for it to bare its infantile fangs and him and hiss, moving its butt around as if it thought his fingers ought to be running in fear from its fearsome pounce. “How did you even get in here?”
The cat – a kitten, really, small and scrawny, dirty and covered in ashes as if it had just run out of a forge, but no less passionate for it – squirmed in his hand as he picked it up.
“Who owns you?” Meng Yao asked, and the cat hissed viciously as if to shout, no one owns me!

He isn't an expert in emotional fucking baggage because mostly he just gave them away, kept none for himself. Obviously. He's too cool for that shit.
But Bong Hwan's pretty fucking sure now that what he's feeling is missing Cheoljong.
