Wen & Jim: First of all, HOW IS WEN SO PRETTY? He's ridiculously gorgeous AND I also loved how he dressed like, you know, a NORMAL person. He didn't look overly fit and his clothes were baggy and he looked normal instead of a high-end model. Anyhoo, yes, their chemistry. Sheesh. I loved just how comfortable in his skin Wen was and how he went after what he wanted. I tend to keep away from MDL and YT comment sections so I hadn't seen or read any bad takes on Jim but...what? He was prickly, standoffish, and guarded in the beginning (AND YES THE FLASHBACKS MADE IT WORSE AND THEN EVEN WORSER) but he was soft in the last two episodes. Soft, smiling, more open. His journey was of quiet healing and it showed if you only bothered to see it.
Li Ming & Heart: Like I said in my ep 8 post, my kid is 16 turning 17 so let's just say that I FEEL YOU, JIM. That said, I loved how they portrayed the characters. Especially Li Ming tugged my heartstrings because hooo boy that kid was in a crossroads. What I liked most about them however, is how easy it was. They are kids who have a crush and it was cute and I really really appreciated how these two pairs were portrayed both similar (feels!) and different (kid love vs adult love). They decided to be boyfriends and that was that. It doesn't mean it's naive but it's decidedly less complicated than the relationship between adults who have jobs, financial stress, previous relationships, and the burden on years and years of homophobia they've been dealing with.
Gaipa: SUCH A CUTIE. And I loved his mom! And their relationship!
Alan: ...uhh. Yeah. One of my least favorite characters. That guy was a massive red flag but perhaps he'll grow up to be a decent human. I'm not invested.
Leng: he was a bit annoying in the beginning but I grew to like him as the story progressed. And he was just so supportive of all kinds of love, and the way he teased Jim and Wen and later Gaipa ("How about that bulky veggie delivery guy, huh 😏?" made me laugh). He's going to be a good dad.
Ha, the cat food got a "Oh! A Convenient Cat Food Moment!" comment from me each time. 😁
