I recced some fan edits for Kinnporsche back in July, but now that it's been a few months since the season finale, the full-length vids have been trickling in. Here are 10 of my favorites so far. ( Read more... )

pi did a BL-themed vidshow for the recent Fanworks Convention in Chicago and posted a playlist of the vids used in the show, which included a few premieres and a few good vids that were new to me.

I haven't watched all the vids from the show yet because there were a bunch from dramas I haven't watched yet but plan to, but for now I will enthusiastically second the recs for:

• You Drive Me Crazy (Semantic Error, Jaeyoung/Sangwoo)
• Matter To You (Cherry Magic, Kurosawa/Adachi)
• Stray Italian Greyhound (Kinnporsche, Kinn/Porsche) - premiere
• I Really Like You (Bad Buddy, Pat/Pran) - I recced this one a couple weeks ago along with another equally cute Pat/Pran vid set to the same song here

I was doubly excited about the Stray Italian Greyhound vid because it's set to the same song as my all-time favorite Wangxian fanvid and I always find it fun to compare how different vidders utilize the same song. helcinda, who did the Kinn/Porsche vid, had two Kinnporsche premieres during the convention and I also highly recommend the other, An Ocean, which was a stunning Porsche-centric character vid.

Now that season one has finished airing, I'm sure there will be many more full-length Kinnporsche fanvids to come, but meanwhile here's ten short Twitter edits I liked.

In the order they're saved in my vid spreadsheet (chronological based on the date I watched them, oldest to most recent):

• Kinnporsche: it's supernatural - I watched this one before watching the show and it was so pretty it helped convince me to give it a shot despite the mafia aspect
• Pete: Rave (includes a lot of dialogue from the show) - Pete was my fave from episode 1 and this is a solid introduction to him
• Kinnporsche ensemble: Play With Fire (includes brief dialogue from the show) - this was released after episode 11 and made using only clips from the trailer that hadn't been aired yet at that point, I rewatched it about a zillion times before the finale and the anticipation killed me every time
• Vegaspete: Tainted Love (includes a lot of dialogue from the show) - the violence and tenderness of episodes 10 and 11
• Kinnporsche: first meeting - sweet and pretty
• Kinnporsche ensemble: Run BTS - a fun action edit
• Kinn: National Anthem (includes brief dialogue from the show) - just some Kinn appreciation, Lana Del Rey is an excellent match for this show
• Kinnporsche: Supermassive (includes brief dialogue from the show) - a very horny edit for a very horny ship
• Vegaspete: Red Lights (includes brief dialogue from the show) - a good edit for them with clips through ep 14
• Vegaspete: Teeth - another Vegaspete edit I enjoyed with clips through ep 14

I watch fanvids for a lot more fandoms than I read fanfic for, and one of the things I like to do is compare how vidders from different fandoms use the same song. Sometimes it's quite similar; other times amazingly different. See the two Umbrella vids below for an especially diametrically opposite approach!

I thought it might be fun to make a little list of vids I know from different fandoms that are set to the same song. This is by no means a complete list of vids for each song, let alone of songs that have vids from multiple fandoms! However, these are all vids I enjoyed enough to rec, and some are recent or even all-time favorites. It's going to be heavy on Cdrama fandoms since they're what I'm watching the most right now.

I've never read that much fanfic for Battlestar Galactica, but it's one of the fandoms for which I've saved the most fanvids. There's just so many amazing BSG vids! I'll have to do a longer rec post to share more sometime (edit: done), but since I mentioned them in my Yuri on Ice vid recs yesterday, here are my favorite fanvids combining footage from Battlestar Galactica (reboot version) with music by P!nk. It's an iconic match.

• I'm Not Dead - Kara-centric, third in dualbunny's trio
• Raise Your Glass - Kara and the pilots drink it up, by taragel
• So What - Kara tries not to give a fuck, by taragel (Kara/Lee and Kara/Sam)
• Who Knew? - as a Kara/Lee shipper, this one (also by dualbunny) really puts me through the emotional wringer, and ties with the equally heart-wrenching Some Time Around Midnight for my favorite vid about the two of them

You know how less than a month ago I was complaining about how I hadn't been able to find very many Nirvana in Fire vids? Well, hot damn, my friends, we have a jackpot! Seven new NiF vids premiered at vidukon_cardiff this weekend. SEVEN! And they're all SO GOOD, too!

I could watch a million vids of MCS and Jingyan staring intensely at each other and still not have enough of them (and wow is there a lot of deliciously intense staring in Déja Vu), but I also could not be more delighted that this batch of premieres contained amazing vids for such complex yet under-vidded characters as Liyang and Prince Yu. And my queens Nihuang and Consort Jing, too! Delighted? No, I'm ecstatic!

I'm a little bit sad that I haven't found more fanvids for Nirvana in Fire, because it's such an emotionally intense story and also visually beautiful, so you'd think it would be prime material for vids. Here are some of the ones I have found and loved for it.
