October and November 2025 Fanfic Recs

Here's some of what I read in October and November.

I finished some published fiction on various plane rides, including:

• After the Funeral, by Agatha Christie - The latest in my Christie binge this year, had a twist I definitely did not see coming!
• The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern - This has been on my to-read list forever, so I'm happy I finally got to it. I enjoyed how whimsical and imaginative it was, but thought the plot dragged a bit in the middle.
• The River Has Roots, by Amal El-Mohtar - Another twist on the Two Sisters folk song.

My fanfiction reading included:

• MDZS: Practical Demonstration, Lan Wangji/Wei Wuxian, 8k, explicit - An incense burner fic in which adult!LWJ teaches teen!LWJ what WWX likes. (warning for Wangxian-typical consent play)
• Word of Honor: Tuesday, Ye Baiyi/Xie Wang, 13k, explicit - Slow dawning realization alongside the characters.
• K-pop RPF: Dichogamy, Yoon Jeonghan/Joshua Hong, 12k, explicit - An interesting take on omegaverse worldbuilding where people can change designation unexpectedly in response to environmental or emotional factors.
• Avatar: the Last Airbender: Heat, Wait, Steep, Repeat, gen, 2k, general audiences - Nice Zuko self-reflection/character study.
