Here are some of the fics I enjoyed this month:

MDZS/CQL Fanfic Recs

Five interlocking vignettes set throughout Sunshot; or: an elegy to lost youth.

He's thought about it, thought about the way Wei Ying would make small wounded sounds with his pulse between Lan Zhan's teeth, thought about whether Wei Ying would let himself be pushed down and straddled or whether he would hook an ankle over Lan Zhan's leg and flip them, plant a hand on his sternum and push the breath out of him and smirk down at him. His vision blurs and Wanyin is and isn't Wei Ying — he wonders if they ever have, if he's kissing lips that've kissed Wei Ying's, wonders if he kisses Jiang Wanyin hard enough if it'll somehow summon Wei Ying back, some alchemy of brother to brother, of loving hard enough that he'll feel it, will know, will hear their joined call.

Kinnporsche Fanfic Recs

I'm not particularly interested in Macau/Porchay, but trying to find anything else that's Macau-centric in the Macau tag is slim pickings, let me tell you, so I'm happy to say I found a good one this month.

Team had no idea what was going on. This wasn’t unusual. It would be a rare day when he did know what the fuck he was doing or thinking at any given moment.

He was sure it was the sex. The sex was turning his brain to mush.

Team sends him a sticker of a cartoon bear flicking him off. Win grins down at the screen. Then he starts counting down. He barely gets to a minute and a half before he hears the telltale scamper of nervous feet in the hall. Grinning, he gets up to open the door.

Win got into this because it seemed fun, and it is, but there's something else now, too. Win doesn't know when it happened, exactly, but his heart has skipped ahead of him— way too many pages ahead— and he thinks he might have accidentally gone and fallen a little bit in love.

K-Pop RPF Fanfic Recs

I'm such a sucker for telepathic and empathetic soulbonds.

Knives Out! Fanfic Recs

Speaking of soulbonds, reading the Gyuhan fic above inspired me to reread this old favorite as well:

If I'm Haunting You, You Must Be Haunting Me, Ransom Drysdale/Marta Cabrera, 34k, explicit

It seems horribly fitting that when Marta’s soulbond arrives, it’s in the most absurdly ridiculous, horrible way imaginable. It involves the Thrombeys, so of course something that should be wonderful just ends up being terrible in the end.

I know some people who really enjoyed this Thai BL, but sadly it was one that didn't quite do it for me. However, both couples were gorgeous together, and had really good chemistry and very hot sex scenes with canon kink elements. Here's a tasty bit of kink discovery starring the couple from the second half of the show:

Prapai makes a little gasp, he seems as blindsided by this whole dynamic as Sky is. Probably hasn’t had too many boys up to his big fancy apartment who dare to tell him what to do. Who make him crawl across his Persian rugs and marble floors.

I Want To Go Home! Fanfic Recs

I Want To Go Home! is a standalone middle grades comedy novel by Gordon Korman that was originally published in 1981. It's about a deadpan snarker who hates summer camp and recruits one of his cabinmates to help him escape. There is periodic beaver POV. It's hilarious and was one of my favorite books when I was a kid, so I'm always delighted to find a fic that captures the spirit of canon.

Ahhhh, Discerning and particular! That was such a cute Yuletide read, I remember it fondly. I got it that fandom not as a kid, hilariously, but when my sister befriended calathea in college and dragged me along - so I think I actually read A Very Long Summer *before* tracking down a copy of the book. So backwards, but still delightful. ♥

A Very Long Summer is a classic! I love that you got into IWtGH! as an adult, it’s such a fun book I still reread it today, too. I was able to get my copy signed a few years ago and he was visibly surprised but pleased to see me hand over such an old and well-loved paperback instead of the nice new hardcovers of his more recent series that most people were giving him 😄
