My Most Reread Fics of 2022

Last year my most reread list was almost completely dominated by MDZS, and this year there's more variety in fandoms, but the other ones are all smaller fandoms than MDZS, most of them MUCH smaller. A couple of the fandoms in the Other Fandoms category below have less than 200 works total on AO3.

I'm going to use that as my excuse for why there's less plotty canon divergence and more PWP on the list this year. 😇

Fics are not listed in any particular order, but similar fics are loosely grouped together.

Kinnporsche

• how bad i want this scandal, Kinn/Porsche, 3k, explicit - You know how Porsche was briefly afraid Kinn might be his cousin, or possibly even brother, but kept fucking him anyway? This, uh, leans into those vibes. Look, it's just really hot, okay? 🙈


• your teeth round my organs, Kinn/Porsche, 3k, explicit - More excellent smut


• pool scene, Vegas/Pete, 2k, explicit - Ditto


• functional movement, Vegas/Pete and Pete/Macau, 2k, explicit - Vegas and Macau manage to be one of the healthier sibling relationships in the show, while also being as deeply weird and fucked up as the rest of the Theerapanyakuls. Vegas deciding to just share Pete with Macau seems entirely plausible to me and I wish people would write more of it.


• while I do my thing in the background, Vegas/Pete, 1k, general audiences - There's a sad lack of fics about Pete and Tankhun's backstory, but I liked this one.


• His Ringing Triumphing, Vegas/Porsche, 2k, explicit - Very hot canon divergence Vegasporsche set after ep 9

Word of Honor and Word of Honor RPF

• Siji Mountain Rest Stop for the Weary Traveller, Zhou Zishu/Wen Kexing, 17k, teen - I read this for the first time last year and honestly, it probably should have made my most reread list then. It's one of my favorites in the WoH fandom and I've continued to reread it this year. I won't spoil too much, but it's a delightful outside POV on ZZS and WKX as immortals who have survived to the present day, as fractious, flirtatious, and in love with each other as ever.


• The Kalends, Zhang Zhehan/Gong Jun, 21k, explicit - Super cracky, but funny and hot

Beyond Evil

• boy, don't you know you're a hurricane, Lee Dongsik/Han Juwon, 50k, mature, ⚠️mind the tags - Interesting AU in which some people are born with supernatural powers


• prettiest when you lose, Lee Dong-sik/Han Ju-won, 3k, explicit - I love the palpable sense of affection in Dongsik's POV in this post-canon established relationship fic

Until We Meet Again/Between Us

• all to myself, none for anyone else, Dean/Pharm, 5k, explicit - I enjoyed the characterization in this Dean POV first-time blowjob fic


• turn it up to let me know, Win/Team, 1k, explicit - A great Win POV that captures his besotted, bemused perspective on Team

Other Fandoms

• Painter of the Night: So you agree, Yoon Seungho/Baek Nakyum, 17k, explicit, ⚠️mind the tags - F/F modern AU. This author writes some of the hottest femslash I've ever read and several of their fics are in my regular reread rotation.


• Bad Buddy: if you would stay, Pat/Pran, 6k, mature - A friend recommended this to me as her favorite Bad Buddy fic so far and it promptly became mine, too. Delightful and very them.


• Mr Queen: of under me you, King Cheoljong/Jang Bong-hwan, 2k, explicit - The author's note made me laugh when it stated "It is my opinion that their sex life would basically be Cheoljong existing in a permanent state of 'well mark me down as scared confused and horny' while Bong-hwan does whatever the fuck he wants" and the fic captures that vibe perfectly.


• Good Manager: Contingent Liability, Seo Yul/Yoon Hakyung, 3k, teen - A lovely fic for a surprisingly sweet enemies-to-lovers ship in the tiniest fandom on this page, reread multiple times in an effort to console myself over the sad lack of fic in general, and OT3 fic in particular
