Original reading of the month was All of Us Murderers, by KJ Charles, some fun Gothic m/m.

And here is one of the fics I enjoyed this month:

Heated Rivalry Fic Recs

Epistolary continues to be my favorite genre in this fandom. Via [personal profile] unfitforsociety, thanks for the rec!

Influential, Ilya Rozanov/Shane Hollander, 6k, general audiences
The problem is, no one knows how to market Ilya Rozanov's (in his own words) sexy Euro masculinity to an audience of white straight men.

He needs the best. And if it happens to be his secret lover's mother who despises his very existence, so be it.

See? That is what I need. Do not care that you are not professional. You are best. This is Ilya Rozanov

Yuna:
This is a fucking joke, right?

Happy reading!

I didn't do a ton of reading of any sort in February, and the only published book I finished was nonfiction: Here Comes the Sun, by Bill McKibben, about the solar tech revolution. I try to stay away from politics in this journal, but suffice to say that it's very dark times right now as an American, and I wanted something to feel a little optimistic about. I also read a bunch of articles from this website and McKibben's blog - both cover a lot of the same ground as the book.

And here is one of the fics I enjoyed this month:

Heated Rivalry Fic Recs

Just a cute, short epistolary fic. This fandom seems good at them.

I can't believe it's February already. I read several published books in January, including:

  • Sorcery and Small Magics, by Maiga Doocy, a tropey and satisfying m/m fantasy romance that had me cracking out my violin playlist on Spotify

  • The Everlasting, by Alix E. Harrow, an m/f time loop fantasy romance about the uses and abuses of story-telling

And here are some of the fanfics I enjoyed:Beyond Evil and Heated Rivalry )
