2022 Mid-Year Fic Reading Stats

forestsofpineI was going to post this on July 1st, but then I spent July 1st in a tent in the woods, so that was fun but not exactly conducive to anything requiring internet or a laptop. I posted some end of the year stats for 2021 last year and plan to do the same this year, but because I am a nerd, I thought it might be kind of fun to see how things look mid-year for comparison purposes at the end of the year.
Anyway, here's the stats for fics I read between January 1 and June 30, 2022.
Words Read
Total fics read or reread: 222
Total wordcount: 2,119,756
This includes everything I liked enough to finish reading, plus a few WIPs and most full rereads, although it doesn't include partial rereads or fics I started reading but DNF'd.
It's quite a bit less than at the same point last year, when the numbers were 478 fics and 7,269,623 words, respectively, but last year was really an exceptional year. This year's numbers are (so far) much more typical!
Top 10 Fandoms
I read fic for 24 different fandoms from Jan 1 to June 30th. Here are the top 10:
Top 10 Ships
Not counting gen ships, which I don't track as consistently, I read 72 different ships from Jan 1 to June 30, including 49 slash ships, 11 poly, 6 het, and 6 femslash. Here are the top 10:
The last two weeks have already made this list out-of-date for the year as a whole, because Vegas/Pete is now tied with Kinn/Porsche in fifth place. Those last four Kinnporsche episodes got me good. 😆
As I mentioned in the end-of-year stats for last year, I don't rec every fic I liked at this journal, and if you'd like more recs for any of the fandoms or ships listed above, feel free to ask and I might be able to dig some more out for you!
